1/22/2024 0 Comments Seahawks roster 2020 depth chart![]() ![]() That makes Penny a candidate for the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, extending his time on the sideline into the regular season. Penny, who sustained a torn ACL in December, may not be back by Week 1, according to general manager John Schneider. Running backs (5): Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, Deejay Dallas, Nick Bellore (FB)Ĭarson suffered a broken hip in December, but he’s expected to be ready for the start of the season. OUT: Pocic, Warmack, Chad Wheeler (practice squad), Jordan Roos (practice squad), Kyle Fuller (practice squad), Khalil McKenzie, Tommy Champion, Jordan Simmons, Demetrius Knox But I think Lewis wins the job, and the right tackle spot goes to Shell with Ogbuehi backing him up while doubling as a swing tackle. Veterans like Pocic and Warmack will have their opportunities to show what they can do as well. Fluker gives rookie Damien Lewis a clearer path to the right guard gig, though it won’t be a cakewalk. Hunt and Finney will compete for the starting center spot, a tussle I envision Finney winning. Iupati and Haynes will duke it out for the left guard job, though I imagine the veteran winning matchup while the 2019 fourth-round pick waits in the wings for another year. Brown is guaranteed a spot, and he’s just about the only one. The offensive line battles will be interesting to watch play out whenever training camp begins, and I’ll be curious to see how many linemen Seattle carries with the new rule. ![]() Offensive line (9): Duane Brown, Brandon Shell, Jamarco Jones, Phil Haynes, Mike Iupati, Damien Lewis, Joey Hunt, B.J. Plus, it wouldn’t be difficult to stash Gordon on the practice squad while he develops. Wilson’s had a young backup like that in the past (Trevone Boykin), but Pete Carroll is unlikely to take that route again, seeing as he’s been very vocal about valuing veteran experience in his backups. Anthony Gordon, an undrafted rookie out of Washington State, may turn out to be a fine NFL prospect, perhaps following in the footsteps of Jacksonville standout Gardner Minshew. I’m already cheating the guidelines I just outlined. I know what you’re thinking, Geno Smith isn’t even on the team. Quarterbacks (2): Russell Wilson, Geno Smith ( Editor’s note: On Monday afternoon, the Seahawks waived defensive tackle Nazair Jones, running back Adam Choice, defensive tackle Shakir Soto and linebacker Pita Taumoepenu and announced the signing of 12 undrafted free agents: DT Josh Avery, RB Patrick Carr, WR Seth Dawkins, CB Gavin Heslop, RB Anthony Jones, DT Cedrick Lattimore, TE Tyler Mabry, FS Chris Miller, FS Josh Norwood, CB Kemah Siverand, DE Marcus Webb and TE Dominick Wood-Anderson.) There’s still plenty of time to add players before camp, but we’ll just go with what’s on the current roster, for now. Seattle hasn’t filled out its 90-man offseason roster, formally announcing just five undrafted free agents. ![]() How this will impact roster construction remains to be seen, so for the following 53-man roster projection, I’ll operate under the assumption that Seattle doesn’t deviate too far from its usual number of players at each position group. Practice squad rosters will now include 12 players, an increase from the previous max of 10 If a team chooses to have 48 players on its active game-day roster, there must be at least eight offensive linemen. These two call-ups must come from the practice squad, and those two players are eligible to be sent back down to the practice squad after the game without being subject to waivers.Once regular-season games begin, the roster can expand to 55 players on game day with 48 active players, up from 46 in previous years.A few noteworthy changes from the new CBA before we jump into the first 53-man roster projection of the offseason. ![]()
